Grief Groups
Determined by size
Losing a loved one can be an overwhelming and isolating experience, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. The Grief Support Group provides a safe, compassionate space where individuals can come together to share their experiences, find comfort, and begin the healing process. This group offers emotional support, prayer, and guidance for those grieving the loss. In this group, you’ll find encouragement and understanding from others who are walking similar paths, as well as tools for coping with the complex emotions of grief. Whether your loss is recent or you've been carrying the pain for some time, our group offers a gentle environment where healing can begin, and hope can be restored.
Registration for the next group is open now. The group will be held on the 4 Thursdays in March from 3:30-5:00pm. Location shared with those enrolled. Email or call for more info or to register
Meet Shannon
North Carolina-native and former Founding Executive Director of Asheville Poverty Initiative and the 12 Baskets Cafe. Rev. Dr. Shannon Spencer believes everyone deserves a seat at the table as a beautiful and beloved child of God. Shannon is ordained and a licensed pastoral counselor associate.
She serves as the Chaplain at Warren Wilson College and as an Interfaith Chaplain at the Western Correctional Center for Women. Shannon understands spirituality as a lens through which we make sense of the world and our place in it.
Reflecting on her time in ministry, she writes: “I have had many teachers along the way – some living in gated communities while others behind the gates of prisons and jails. It’s been a beautifully broken journey framed by abundant grace and radical love.”
“You are your own expert. Drawing from various techniques we will find what works for you. The stories we’ve been told, as well as the stories we tell are ourselves, matter and are worth exploring. We all deserve intentional space for meaning making.”
